The book by the Russian traveler and physician, monk of Kalmyk origin Danbo (Dambo-Dashi) Ulyanov (1844-1913) is dedicated to his remarkable journey to Tibet, undertaken in 1904 on the assignment of the Main Headquarters of the Russian Empire.

In his work, D. Ulyanov traced the lineage of the Romanovs back to the legendary king of Shambhala, Suchandra, interpreted the prophecies made by Buddha, and provided a wealth of fascinating information about the philosophy, religion, and culture of Tibet.
