The Queen of Secrets. A Novel about Anne of Cleves

Recently widowed Henry VIII, preparing to marry once again, decides to take the German princess Anne of Cleves as his wife, whom he has never seen before. Anne, lacking beauty and other feminine virtues, does not evoke passionate feelings in the love-struck king, but, guided by state interests, he still enters into marriage with her. Soon, Henry VIII's attention is drawn to one of Anne's ladies-in-waiting, and the king begins to look for a reason for divorce. To top it all off, the lonely queen, unacknowledged by the court, must hide secrets that could cost her life.

Will the king accuse Anne of adultery, like the unfortunate Anne Boleyn? Or will he send her home in disgrace? "The Queen of Secrets. A Novel about Anne of Cleves" is the fourth book by the popular author and renowned historian Alison Weir, who decided to create a dramatic series dedicated to the six wives of King Henry VIII.
