Sally Mo is thirteen. At three years old, she learned to read and has been doing just that ever since — she literally lives in books. Her passion for reading was always encouraged by her closest person — her beloved... grandfather David, with whom she could discuss any book and talk about her feelings. When her grandfather passes away, Sally Mo copes with her grief through reading and slowly begins to lose touch with the real world. Her mother takes Sally Mo to psychologist Dr. Bloom, who suggests she avoid books for three months. She can only observe the world, think, and write in her diary. And then Sally Mo decides: why not write a book herself, since reading is forbidden? The only problem is that the line between truth and fiction in her story is so thin that sometimes it's hard to tell whether it all really happened or if Sally Mo made it up.

The novel by Shurd Kuyper was awarded the "Silver Pencil" Prize for the best children's book in 2020.
