1984

The novel "1984" is one of the most famous dystopias of the 20th century, a story set in a totalitarian society where every action and thought of citizens is controlled by the Party and its leader, Big Brother. The main character, Winston Smith, works at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history to please the regime, but within him a rebellion against the oppressive state is kindled. In search of freedom and love, he confronts the harsh realities of his era. In the book "1984", Orwell shows that there is and can be nothing worse than total unfreedom: if Big Brother is watching you and declares that two plus two equals five, then it is so. Totalitarianism destroys all spiritual needs, thoughts, feelings, and even the mind of a person, leaving only constant fear and the only choice between silence and death.
