Battle for the East. From Turkestan to Palestine

Russia should turn to its side of history of the "battle for the East." This book discusses the most significant events of this struggle over the last 100 years: from the fight against Basmachism in the 1920s to the current operation in the Middle East. It includes the gradual liquidation of the remnants of the Golden Horde, the advance of pioneer units, and the annexation of the Transcaucasian and North Caucasian lands.
In relations with Central Asia, Russia is primarily concerned about national security issues, including the still unsuccessful fight against drug trafficking and the persistent threat of terrorism.
Leading expert on the Middle East, Semyon Bagdasarov, comprehensively answers the main questions in modern Russian politics:

• Why are relations with Asian countries—from Syria to China—not less significant for Russia than relations with Europe and the USA?
• Why is the eastern vector so important for Russian politics?
• What is Russia's place in the modern world?
