Sense and Sensibility

“Sense and Sensibility” is the first published novel by Jane Austen, the success of which paved the way for her other works. Austen worked diligently on the story of an ordinary English family at the end of the 18th century for many years. The main heroines, the Dashwood sisters, take different paths but pursue the same goal - to find familial happiness with their loved ones. The sharp-tongued young writer elegantly and effortlessly mocks the moral values of the society of her time: calculation, callousness, and snobbery.

The watercolor illustrations by the young artist Evgenia Melnikova are airy, romantic, and perfectly match the atmosphere of the novel, where many things merely linger in the air, remaining unspoken.
