Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre, a pupil of a boarding school for poor girls, becomes a governess at the estate of the mysterious Mr. Rochester. Thus begins one of the most famous romantic stories of the 19th century. The outwardly prim and inwardly deceitful society of England was not welcoming to quiet orphans, so young Jane must resist prejudices and conventions.
The artist Evgenia Melnikova saw in the characters of the novel not only participants in a love drama but also representatives of an era when women had to fight for their right to independence, while men considered tenderness a weakness.
