Before She Met Me

Julian Barnes, the winner of the Booker Prize, is one of the most ярких and original prose writers in modern Britain, author of such international bestsellers as "One Story", "The Noise of Time", "The Sense of an Ending", "Arthur & George", "A History of the World in 10½ Chapters", "Flaubert's Parrot", and many others. Perhaps his main talent is the ability to easily and naturally play with styles and directions. Subtle stylization and caustic irony, refined lyricism and sarcasm that borders on cynicism, aggressive toughness and cheerful mischief — Barnes masters all of this and much more. What is stronger — love or jealousy? And how is jealousy towards the past, towards all those men that the former actress Ann knew "before she met me" even possible? Such questions relentlessly torment Graham, a lecturer in political history, finding no peace and turning his own life into a cruel farce... The novel is published in a new translation.
