The scourge of humanity is loneliness, and each year it lashes out even more fiercely. No matter how much people communicate in virtual space, it distances them; the world needs people less and less. Loneliness is not a choice; it is natural selection. Technologies take away all live communication from people, society and the state – everything soulful. They have already penetrated human desires, today they anticipate them, and tomorrow they intend to dictate them. There is less and less humanity in people. But the trouble is that the main character of the novel, a young man locked in loneliness forever, does not even have a phone – only a rather poor life experience, a few letters, and a fragment of hope that he might still see the light someday.
