Speak

The action of the novel takes place in the near future in a semi-military state where the death penalty is allowed. The main character, Evgeny, is a gifted young man enchanted by the theme of death. It practically becomes his... profession: he works as a guard in a place where people are executed. Evgeny knows a lot about death and, perhaps, less about life. He is about to confront a story of crime and punishment that will overturn not only his life but also the fates of his loved ones: his younger brother, the oppositionist Tatiana, and a conformist. "Speak" is a story about how the environment and surroundings inexorably influence a person. A reflection on how the fear of death and conscience can destroy life.
