This book is about the mystique of country life, and "dacha" is a universal word. It refers to both a plot in a garden (non-commercial) association, abbreviated to SNT on signs, as well as a four-story country house, and a... vegetable garden with a temporary structure huddled in the corner. It has been called by different names: estate, fazenda, or some kind of Monrepo. Three pillars support the life of a successful person: a dacha, an apartment, and a car. Among them, a piece of land, separated from the world by a fence or a stone wall, is the most important. There, soil and destiny breathe. From the first steps among the tall grass to death among the beds with pulled grass in hand, it surrounds a Russian person. Urban laws do not apply in the garden association; a special brotherhood or fierce enmity arises, where a neighbor is ready to go after another with a scythe for the shadow cast on the greenhouse with tomatoes. The heroes of this book are different people, including academics, journalists, and businessmen, but they are united by one thing — the dacha. And everything is possible at the dacha: suddenly, in the forest, the dead gathering of KSP members comes to life, a magical object hidden from prying eyes in the basement transforms time and space, and a sweet couple next door grows pumpkins to turn them into prisons for souls.
