Vaelin Al Sorna was only ten years old when his father left him at the iron gates of the Sixth Order, whose knights dedicated themselves to battle. From now on, Vaelin would lead a harsh and difficult life as an acolyte, strengthening himself through training and abstinence. He has no other family left but the Warriors of Faith. Vaelin would do better to forget that his father was once the lord of battles to King Janus, the ruler of the Unified Kingdom. And yet, Vaelin's rage knows no bounds. He cannot forgive his father for depriving him of what was rightfully his by birth and leaving him at the doorstep of the Sixth Order like some foundling. But the young Warrior of Faith holds sacred the memory of his mother, no matter what they say about her in the Order. Vaelin does not yet suspect that the time will come when he will begin to understand his father, that a single truth will overshadow all others, that a future will arrive when not only the Unified Kingdom will change, but the whole world as well.
