Soldier's Tales

Sasha Chorny is one of the most prominent poets and prose writers of the twentieth century. His work is incomparable and unique. In the 1920s, the poet emigrated abroad. The author's nostalgia for his homeland and the Russian language manifested... in the original and extraordinarily talented "Soldier's Tales," written in the last years of his life. Here, the writer's memories of Russia and his military service during World War I organically blend with the ironic, lively, and sincere Russian folk language.
The heroes of the tales are simple, resourceful, and clever Russian soldiers who constantly find themselves at the center of incredible stories. Sometimes they need to rescue a queen from her golden heels, outsmart all sorts of evil creatures, or even establish peace between two states. However, no matter what happens, the good humor and strong words of the Russian soldier will always help him find a way out of any, even the most difficult, situation.
The illustrations for the tales were created by a wonderful artist, a renowned animator - Ekaterina Sokolina. Her drawings, which allow one to feel the atmosphere of a bygone life and undoubtedly awaken the imagination of readers, have easily merged with the cheerful and expressive plots of the "Soldier's Tales."
