Emma

The fourth novel by Jane Austen, first published in late 1815. During the writing process, the author was convinced that she was describing a character "who would not particularly appeal to anyone except me." As it turned out, the rich, independent, and dreamy Emma became one of the favorite heroines of readers around the world. And the only one who does not feel the societal pressure to marry quickly for love or necessity. After all, Emma already has everything, and she is far more concerned with establishing other people's personal lives.
The novel is published in the classic translation by Maria Kahn.
