The book includes two famous stories by Boris Vasiliev: “And the dawns here are quiet...” and “Tomorrow there was a war.” The first tells about the fates of five young female anti-aircraft gunners and their commander, who with incredible courage and a warm heart defended their homeland from German saboteurs in the summer of 1942. In the next work, events unfold a little earlier, in 1940, around future graduates and their families, who did not yet know that this was the last pre-war year.
