The Sun of the Dead

The novel "The Sun of the Dead" can rightly be considered one of the best works of Russian classic literature of the 20th century. With terrifying candor, Ivan Shmelev describes the establishment of the Bolshevik regime in Crimea in the autumn of 1920, of which he himself was a witness. The significance of the book for modernity is beyond doubt: the times of "red terror" have become a thing of the past, but the main thing remains: the ability not to lose human dignity under any circumstances, faith in the power of the human spirit.
