Language Development

Language is mankind's greatest invention, yet no one has ever invented it. This paradox underlies our interest in language, as well as many of its mysteries. Who actually invented such a complex and multi-layered system as language? Can we trace... the origins of its structure? Or does it have a divine origin and was revealed to Adam in its finished form? How does language determine a person's way of life and a nation's fate? Why do some languages change significantly over time, while others remain virtually unchanged? What role do metaphors play in the formation of linguistic structures? What is the essence of such a large-scale phenomenon as the difference in word order in different languages? These and other questions are examined by the author in the pages of his book, drawing on current research in modern linguistics.
