Problems of Dostoevsky's Poetics. Works of Different Years

Mikhail Mikhailovich Bakhtin (1895–1975) is an outstanding Russian thinker, whose works extend far beyond literary studies and aesthetics. The first edition of Bakhtin's study on Dostoevsky ("Problems of Dostoevsky's Creativity") was published in 1929. Having found itself at the center... of heated discussions at the time, this work has not lost its relevance to this day. In 1963, a second, revised, and expanded edition of the book on Dostoevsky was published under a changed title — "Problems of Dostoevsky's Poetics." Furthermore, this edition includes articles and rough drafts of articles on L. N. Tolstoy; the most significant work of Bakhtin's philosophical concept, "Author and Hero in Aesthetic Activity"; the once revolutionary, now classical work "The Problem of Speech Genres"; the article "Epic and Novel (On the Methodology of Novel Research)"; as well as the article "The Problem of Text," described by the author as "an experience in philosophical analysis of the problem of text in linguistics, philology, and other humanities."
