Chess. Theory and Practice of the Middlegame

Textbooks by the outstanding coach Grandmaster Alexander Panchenko are based on the materials of the lectures he delivered at the classes of the all-Russian school he heads, which has raised dozens of extra-class chess players. The theoretical sections cover a... range of important and complex themes that are still insufficiently studied, while the set of exercises is as close as possible to the conditions of tournament play and allows learners to improve the skills necessary for achieving success in modern chess. In working on the second edition of «Theory and Practice of the Middlegame», one of Panchenko's best students, international grandmaster Artem Timofeev, made the necessary clarifications and additions, as well as prepared a new chapter on attack written by the teacher.
