The whaling ship "Pequod" sets out on a long voyage. Onboard is a colorful crew of sailors of different races and nationalities. But the sea hunters will discover that the main goal of their ship's captain Ahab is not whale oil and spermaceti. His heart burns with the fire of vengeance. He hunts the legendary and dangerous albino whale Moby Dick, who took Ahab's leg in one of his previous voyages.
Herman Melville, who had experience as a whaler, describes the life of whale hunters in detail and with knowledge. With the passion of a curious explorer, he tells about the ocean and its inhabitants. But behind the vivid details and characters looms a tragedy of biblical proportions, where the heroes of the novel face questions of the highest order: about life and death, good and evil.
Illustrations by Anton Lomaev have already adorned editions of "Moby Dick" in English, French, Chinese, Lithuanian, and Russian. Specifically for this book, published by "Loreta," the artist created forty new drawings in addition to the previous illustrations, which will help the reader immerse themselves in the thrilling world of the great novel.
