White Nights

The book includes works by F.M. Dostoevsky, created at the very beginning of his creative path: the debut novel «Poor Folk», which made the author famous overnight, as well as the stories «White Nights» and «Netochka Nezvanova». These works were written before the «catastrophe» of 1849, when the young writer was exiled to hard labor in Siberia for participating in the Petrashevsky circle, where he spent about ten years. In Dostoevsky's early works, the author of «Notes from Underground», «Crime and Punishment», and «The Brothers Karamazov» is still hard to discern, but even in them, the talent of a powerful and original writer is revealed, deserving of enthusiastic reviews from critics and success with readers, whose works are filled with compassion and deep sympathy for the trampled, ridiculous, yet dignified people.
