The book tells the story of ten Soviet women who, finding themselves in the same maternity ward, suddenly learn that a quarantine has been declared in the institution and they will have to spend another ten days within its walls. One of them comes up with the idea of repeating the story told by the Florentine writer Boccaccio: for all ten days of quarantine, they will tell each other stories about life, about men, about love, about jealousy and infidelity, and about many, many other things that concern any normal woman.
