The basis of the book is the iconic documentary series by director Oliver Stone and historian Peter Kuznick. The authors debunk idealized representations of the USA and shed light on the mistakes made by American figures. Through archival materials and declassified documents, Stone and Kuznick carefully reconstruct the history of the USA from the 20th to the early 21st century, from World War I to the policies of President Obama and the imperial status of the country.
