Fazil Iskander is one of the greatest Russian writers of the 20th century, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for his contribution to the development of national literature, laureate of the "Yasnaya Polyana" prize, the "Bolshaya Kniga"... prize ("for honor and dignity") and many others. The world in which Iskander's heroes live is a miniature copy of the larger world, where wisdom and foolishness, cunning and simplicity, the funny and the tragic coexist.
