Eric Arthur Blair (1903-1950), known in literature as George Orwell, is an outstanding British writer, journalist, and publicist. He was a genius and a prophet, a socialist and an anarchist. His work was admired and resented. Orwell did not hide his civic position: no! - to authoritarianism, repression, and attacks on human rights and freedoms. To everything that destroys spirituality, the desire to think, feelings, love for life, leaving in exchange only fear and a single choice - silence or death.
The 1949 novel "1984" by Orwell brought the author worldwide fame and is considered one of the best in the dystopian genre.
