Crisis of Self-Determination

Ben Elton is back again, and once again in his incomparable role as a satirist with cinematic vision. His new book is an uncompromising novel about our relevance, analyzing our lives without detachment from the internet in the "era of outrage." We didn't even notice how millions of people began to constantly clarify relationships, ponder and rethink their rights and responsibilities, and of course, take offense for any reason, no reason, and simply for pleasure. Social media today is an endless bloodshed. By shifting time just a few years forward, Elton models the possible developments in Britain in the near future, and in his version, bloodshed could easily spill from the wires onto the sidewalks. Scotland Yard, the referendum on England's exit from the Kingdom, international machinations and interference in the affairs of sovereign democracies, all the colors of the gender rainbow spectrum, metoo, murders, suicides, the internet, television – these are just a few hashtags that will make this novel memorable. Elton shows no mercy to hypocrites of all kinds, who seem to have taken control of politics, social media, the press, and show business.
Fast, fun, and deadly.
