Desert's Error

All her life, Lala was an outcast because of her appearance: she is taller than other people, has red hair, and the eyes of a wild lynx.
 
One day, the girl learns that across the sea, there are others like her.... Ashayns. For ashayns, the Desert is what gives them life and beautiful gemstones that sustain the country in prosperity. However, everything comes at a price. All ashayns are destined for a single end: the Master of Death will hand them over to the Desert in exchange for precious stones. Lala knows nothing yet about the Desert, the Masters of Death, or the gemstones. She simply wants to find her family.
 
But will her homeland accept Lala? And what is more important: family or power?
