It is said that after death, the soul does not immediately go on to reincarnation. First, it wanders through a white desert, recalling past lives, and until it learns all the lessons, the new cycle is closed to it. The lessons of long-gone lives are learned over and over again, cycle after cycle, and therefore are taken easily and seem obvious. But the most challenging trial remains accepting the lessons of the last lived life.
