Chekhov in Life

"Chekhov in Life" is a book created in the genre of documentary montage. The image of A. P. Chekhov is shaped by numerous, sometimes contradictory testimonies from his contemporaries — relatives, friends, acquaintances. The portrait, character, family, education, faith, creativity,... medicine, etc. — in nearly fifty thematically organized chapters, Chekhov appears in various guises: as a worthy son who tenderly cared for his parents; as a favorite among friends and women; as a traveler and gardener; as an interesting conversationalist and original thinker. The underlying narrative thread is not the unraveling of fictitious Chekhovian mysteries, but the drama of fate. The compiler of the book is Igor Nikolaevich Sukhi, a renowned literary scholar, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor at St. Petersburg University, and one of the best researchers of Chekhov's work.
