Unholy Righteous

The book of the great Russian writer N.S. Leskov (1831–1895) includes the novellas and stories "The Unbaptized Priest," "The Like-Minded," "The Cadet Monastery," "The Immortal Golovan," "The Engineers of No Money," "A Man at the Clock," "The Figure," "The Torment... of the Spirit," and "An Hour of God's Will."
There is something common that unites the heroes of all these works - in the words of the author, they "love good simply for the sake of good and do not expect any rewards for it, anywhere." Leskov's language is unique; rich in texture and artistic expression, it contains a large number of words and expressions that are now forgotten. For their correct understanding, the editor of the book has made comments in footnotes.
