classics or first-rank figures were included. We could not overlook the remarkable stories of A. I. Kuprin (his "folkloric horror story" "The Silver Wolf" opens the collection) and V. Ya. Bryusov ("In the Mirror"), the grim tales of F. K. Sologub ("The Red-Lipped Guest") and A. S. Green ("Lion's Strike"). We could not pass by one of the iconic figures of the early century - M.
