The Rising East. Palestine Against Israel and the USA

In this book, the legendary leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization Yasser Arafat, French political scientist Samir Amin, and former terrorist turned human rights activist Leila Khaled discuss how the Palestinian national liberation movement originated and evolved, the difficulties it faced along the way, and what possible future awaits it. The modern history of Palestinians has seen many controversial and dramatic events: hijackings of airplanes, cooperation with political radicals from around the world, an attempted coup in Jordan, homemade "Qassam" rockets, friendship with the USSR and Iran, the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994, decades of armed confrontation with Israel — and all these processes were accompanied by massive casualties among the civilian population of the region, degradation of the economy and culture. Who benefits from the wars in Palestine and will peace ever come? Answers to these and other "cursed" questions can be found in this book.
