Choosing Your Story

The book of Russian scholars is a collection of essays narrating historical turning points when the history of our Fatherland could have taken a different path. However, this is not a textbook of alternative history. It offers profound and fact-rich reflections on the emergence of civil society in Russia, the problem of historical choice, and the notion that history has always been shaped by specific individuals, acting of their own accord. The book was published in 2005 and sparked discussions in both professional circles and among ordinary readers interested in the fate of Russia. Therefore, it quickly became a bestseller. Before you is a revised and significantly expanded edition.
