The Undeserving Man
"The Undeserving Man" is the most famous novella by Osamu Dazai. The work is largely autobiographical - many critics believe that the character Yōzō Ōba depicts the author himself: a suffering man who destroys his life without finding his place... in it. And, as if drawing a line under his own existence and putting all of himself into the novella, shortly after the release of "The Undeserving Man," Dazai jumped into one of Tokyo's water reservoirs. This work is known worldwide. It has inspired a film, manga, and several anime. The novella is published in a new translation.
