Damn Days

Throughout almost his entire life, the famous Russian writer Ivan Alexeyevich Bunin kept diaries. He believed that "the diary is one of the most beautiful literary forms. I think that in the near future this form will replace all others." The writer's entries about the revolutionary events, first published in 1926 under the title "Damn Days," gained particular notoriety. The revolution as a chaotic whirlpool of faces, positions, shouts, propaganda, complaints, rumors, silences, confessions, and exposés. Bunin's accusatory and cursing, caustic and bitter text is one of the most candid and unflinching descriptions of the fateful events in the life of Russia.
