Ivan Krylov (1769-1844) – an outstanding Russian fabulist, poet, publicist, and publisher of satirical and educational journals, who earned the respect and love of his people during his lifetime. "Of course, no Frenchman would dare to place anyone above La Fontaine, but we may seem to prefer Krylov to him. Both will forever remain the favorites of their compatriots," wrote Alexander Pushkin. I. Krylov created 236 fables, a significant part of which is based on original plots. The fables included by the author in 9 books are presented in this book.
