The masters of dreams are far from magic; their craft is a harmless pastime for bored townspeople. The dreams of the young master Snuff are rightly considered the best in the Capital, as the girl who grew up in an... orphanage knows the value of a good fairy tale. But even the best are not immune to mistakes, and the master accidentally breaks the main law of the Guild – the secret of the dream. To pay a hefty fine, Snuff takes on the task of creating seven nightmares for a mysterious buyer. She does not yet know that her dreams become real, and the customer has his own plans for the fate of the Kingdom. When entire towns empty out and creatures from dreams appear on the streets, Snuff has to make a difficult choice. Together with the investigator Bernard from the Special Office, she must face the nightmares she has created and restore the future of the world. But the perfect nightmare is one from which there is no escape, and the master knows her craft too well… and knows little about her past.
