Thomas Edward Lawrence (1888-1935) - a British archaeologist, traveler, soldier, spy, writer, and diplomat. Due to his actions during the Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire in 1916-1918, he earned the nickname Arab. The author of the memoirs "Seven Pillars... of Wisdom," which brought him worldwide fame. In his book "Revolt in the Desert," long recognized as a classic of British adventure literature, Lawrence of Arabia, in the spirit of Kipling, highlights the romance and heroism of colonial warfare in the East and the "white man's burden."
