The Life Views of Cat Murr

The learned cat Murr, descendant of the Cat in Boots, dipping his fluffy paw in ink, writes about his difficult cat life: about how he grew up, fell in love, and fought in duels. Sipping herring brine, he reflects in his notes on science, composes sonnets, and makes sarcastic remarks about humans. Due to a printing error, the story of the cat-writer is oddly intertwined with the biography of the talented conductor Johannes Kreisler, wandering from one princely court to another. Fragments of his biography are occasionally interrupted by Murr's revelations.
