The mid-seventies. A small Siberian town, Gribov, is engulfed in horror. The body of the ten-year-old granddaughter of the city council chairman is found on the edge of the forest. The maniac strangled her, raped her, and then scalped her. Senior investigator Rita Vakhromeeva is part of the investigative team handling the case. She recalls that a series of similar crimes had occurred in this town many years ago. Moreover, she, Rita, was that very girl who miraculously managed to escape from the hands of the killer...
