The Mysteries of Udolpho

Suddenly orphaned, Emily St. Aubert finds herself under the guardianship of her greedy aunt and her husband – a cruel Italian aristocrat. From now on, Emily's home becomes the mysterious castle of Udolpho, whose walls hold stories of ghosts capable of frightening even the bravest heart. At night, the castle is haunted by spirits, eerie moans echo from the vacant rooms, and dangers lurk in the long dark corridors… Emily, unwillingly trapped in this hell, nevertheless finds the strength to resist the tyranny of her guardians – and step by step, she approaches the unraveling of the secrets that the castle of Udolpho keeps.
