From Innokenty Annensky to Anna Akhmatova - this is the range of the third volume of the anthology "The Poet in Russia - More than a Poet. Ten Centuries of Russian Poetry". This volume features 79 authors born over the span of almost three and a half decades - from 1855 (the year Annensky was born) to 1889 (the year Akhmatova was born).
Among the poets included in the third volume are such celebrities as Alexander Blok, Maximilian Voloshin, Nikolai Gumilev, Vyacheslav Ivanov, Nikolai Klyuev, Mikhail Kuzmin, Igor Severyanin, Velimir Khlebnikov, Vladislav Khodasevich, and others. They are accompanied by authors who are far less known and even completely forgotten, but forgotten unjustly, as they too preserve the experience and energy, to use Pushkin's term, of the self-sufficiency of man. Born in the 19th century, they were vitally necessary to us in the 20th century and are no less needed now.
The author and compiler of the anthology, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, precedes each selection of poems with his article and dedicates a poem to each poet. The publication is illustrated with works by famous artists, as well as the poets themselves.
