Journey to the center of the Earth. Around the world in 80 days
No circulation
This edition includes two novels by the classic of world fantasy-adventure literature, Jules Verne. In “Journey to the Center of the Earth” (1864), the German scientist Otto Lidenbrock, a professor of mineralogy from Hamburg, finds a manuscript with runic writing in...
an ancient Icelandic book, deciphering which he and his nephew Axel become the owners of an incredible secret. According to the author of the manuscript, the 16th-century alchemist Arne Saknussem, the inside of the globe is hollow and in its center there is a mysterious world unknown to people, which can be penetrated through the crater of the extinct Icelandic volcano Snæfells. Lidenbrock and Axel go into the bowels of the earth, unaware of what incredible discoveries, amazing encounters and deadly trials await them there... “Around the World in Eighty Days” (1872) is the story of an 80-day journey through various countries and continents, familiar to us from childhood through numerous (sometimes very free) film adaptations, which is undertaken as a result of one unusual bet by the eccentric London gentleman Phileas Fogg and his French servant Jean Passepartout and the detective Fix pursuing them... In this edition, the novels are illustrated by the wonderful Czech artist Wenceslav Cerny (1865-1936) and the Russian master of book graphics Peter Lugansky (1911-1993).
