The Great Historical Atlas of the World

The Great Historical Atlas of the World is the result of many years of work by scholars, editors, and cartographers at Oxford University. The atlas contains facts and a brief analysis of key events in world history: the transition to... settled agriculture, the invention of writing and the printing press, the birth of religions, the Roman Empire, China during the Song Dynasty, the discovery of America, the scientific, Great French, and industrial revolutions, and the formation of the Soviet Union and communist China. All material is presented in chronological order and displayed on color maps created using the latest cartographic technologies. The publication consists of five parts: "The Ancient World", "The Middle Ages", "The World of the Early Modern Period", "The Age of Revolutions", and "The 20th Century".
