The famous radio broadcast of November 30, 1938, and the public's reaction to it, showed the relevance of the issue outlined by Wells. And now, more than a hundred years after the publication of the novel, many books, films, and plays on the theme of humanity's demise continue to be released — which means H.G. Wells' shot hit the mark.
