White Nights. Netochka Nezvanova

This edition presents the early stories of F.M. Dostoevsky "White Nights" and "Netochka Nezvanova" - the most poetic works of the great novelist. The hero of "White Nights" is a lonely nameless dreamer, living in the closed world of his... fantasies. Open, kind-hearted, sympathizing with strangers and even houses, he gets lost in the clash with real life. In the story "Netochka Nezvanova", the main theme becomes that of the suffering child, which developed in all the writer's later works. The heroine lives in the unreal paradise of her own imagining, which turns into a quite real earthly hell: "Reality struck me by surprise, amid the light life of dreams". Naive, unpretentious, often funny and absurd, yet not having lost their own dignity, people evoke deep compassion in the reader.
