The book includes works by a photographer who disassembles objects of industrial design, creates sleek compositions from parts and takes photographs, demonstrating to viewers the complex inner workings of everyday items and calling for reflection on technical progress and consumption.... For this edition, the author dismantled and photographed more than fifty objects – both modern and outdated. Captivating photographs of various disassembled technologies – from a mechanical pencil to a light aircraft – are accompanied by essays from the author, as well as his like-minded individuals: the founder of a technology repair community, a restorer of antique ceramics, an organizer of children's engineering workshops, and an inventor. Each of them, from their own perspective, reflects on the contradictory relationship between humans and the world of objects – in the past, present, and future.
