Night in Room 103

Japan. A small hotel on the northern slope of the mountains. A hardworking family has owned it for forty-six generations. Guests are welcomed by young Ryu, delicious dishes are prepared by his mother, his father oversees the baths, and the... younger brother conducts tours. Presiding over them all is Grandma Hakusana — the owner of the hotel. There are other staff members in the hotel who provide the most unobtrusive service. The owners see them, but the guests never do. The staff members are bound by family ties and a pact with a mysterious guest who arrives at the hotel for three nights a year and stays in room 103.
Aspiring writer Michi arrives at the hotel in search of inspiration, and she is settled into room one hundred three. The next morning, Michi wakes up dead. The room is full of spirits — faithful servants of the hotel. And in the secret room, another captive of the ryokan sings sad songs.
