The Floating House

The sunken city of Mologa, submerged in the last century, is surrounded by legends and mysteries. It never leaves the mind of Dara – a tenth grader who dreams of enrolling in the history department. Dara and her family travel to Rybinsk, where there are still houses from Mologa that were transported down the Volga during the resettlement of the Mologans. As a future historian, she can’t resist and decides to take a look at one of these houses herself. Externally abandoned, it turns out to be inhabited.
Dara is greeted by Iva – the young hostess of the floating house. She transports her guest to the past and shows her how the flooding of Mologa actually occurred, what this city was like before, and how people hurriedly left the place that had been their home for many years. Dara is so absorbed in the story unfolding before her eyes that she doesn’t notice how she sinks to the bottom along with the memories, and Iva does not hurry to bring her back to the present. There is very little time left before dawn: if Dara does not surface from the story in time, she will remain forever in Mologa among the submerged streets and destroyed houses.
