My Favorite Country

"My Favorite Country" is a book by Russian journalist, former special correspondent for the "Novaya Gazeta," Elena Kostyuchenko. It is titled "My Favorite Country" — and tells the story of how Russia slowly descended into war. Kostyuchenko is one of... the most well-known Russian journalists. In the early weeks of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, she worked in Ukraine and published several articles for the "Novaya Gazeta," which became important testimonies of the war and the crimes committed by the Russian military. During the war, Elena Kostyuchenko had to leave Russia for Germany. Later, already in Germany, she was apparently attempted to be poisoned.
